Questions before you hit the road

Frequently asked questions

Drive Venture helps families record supervised driving practice, track progress, and make the learning process more engaging. Here are the questions we hear most often.

Getting Started

What is Drive Venture?

Drive Venture is an early-pilot service for teen permit holders and their families. It helps families record supervised driving practice, see licensing progress, and use optional game features such as quests and achievements to make practice more engaging.

Who is Drive Venture for?

Drive Venture is intended for teen permit holders and the parents or legal guardians helping supervise them. A parent or legal guardian must initiate or approve participation for a driver under 18.

Do I have to live in Michigan?

No. Drive Venture can support participating families outside Michigan, but licensing rules differ by state. Some progress features may be more complete for jurisdictions that Drive Venture has already modeled. Families should always confirm current requirements with their own state licensing agency.

How do I join the pilot?

Start with the Join Drive Venture page. The pilot is limited-availability and may change as we learn from participating families.

Logging & Progress

How do I log a drive?

Participating families can log supervised drives through Drive Venture's web experience. Families who opt in to Text Parker can also use supported text-message commands to record drives.

What is Text Parker?

Text Parker is Drive Venture's optional transactional SMS service for participating pilot families. It supports registration, supervised-drive recording, account/service messages, and requested help. SMS participation is optional; message and data rates may apply. See Text Parker for current commands and details.

Does Drive Venture replace my state-required driving log?

No. Drive Venture helps families record practice and understand progress, but it is not a government agency, driving school, insurer, or legal adviser. Families remain responsible for checking current state requirements and maintaining any official log or certification required by law.

What are quests, XP, and achievements?

They are optional game features that recognize useful practice and progress. Depending on the quest, that can include consistency, night practice, licensing milestones, destinations, weather conditions, or other supervised-driving experiences.

Can I correct a drive if I entered something wrong?

Drive Venture supports correction workflows for participating families. If something looks wrong or you cannot correct it yourself, use Help or Feedback so the pilot team can assist.

Parents & Safety

Can parents or guardians see the driver's progress?

Drive Venture is designed as a family experience. Participating family members may be able to access family driving records and progress according to their role and the current pilot experience.

Does Drive Venture encourage teens to drive more aggressively?

No. Drive Venture is intended to make supervised practice more engaging, not to reward speed, risky driving, or unnecessary mileage. Quests and achievements are designed around practice, consistency, conditions, destinations, and licensing progress.

Can I use Drive Venture while the car is moving?

No. Never interact with Drive Venture or a mobile phone while driving. Enter or review information only while safely parked. A supervising adult should handle any necessary communication during a drive.

Does Drive Venture track my location automatically?

Drive Venture does not currently collect continuous GPS trip tracking. It may process locations or destinations that a family enters and may derive approximate location information from a ZIP code for service functions such as licensing, weather, or daylight calculations.

Cost & Privacy

How much does Drive Venture cost?

Drive Venture is currently an experimental, limited-availability pilot. Pricing for any broader future service has not been finalized. Participants should rely on the terms presented when they join the current pilot.

What information does Drive Venture collect?

Depending on how a family uses Drive Venture, the service may process family and driver account information, supervised-driving records, vehicle information, licensing progress, SMS activity, feedback, and limited technical information needed to operate and improve the pilot. See the Privacy Policy for the current detailed list.

Does Drive Venture sell my personal information?

No. Drive Venture's current Privacy Policy states that personal information is not sold. Mobile numbers, SMS consent, and opt-in information are also not sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes.

Where can I read the legal and privacy details?

Read the current Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions. Because Drive Venture is an early pilot, those pages are the authoritative public references if a short FAQ answer and the full policy ever differ.
